  1. Known incompatibilities of Partition Resizer with other software
  2. ================================================================

  4. Partition Resizer will behave unpredictably or undesirably in the following 
  5. cases:
  6.  
  7. OS/2 & FAT Partitions:
  8.         Partition Resizer changes the boot sector of the FAT partition it 
  9.         resizes. OS/2 (if installed on a DOS partition) keeps a copy of the
  10.         boot sector in a file, in order to use it as an alternative boot 
  11.         sector for the dual boot utility. I haven't tested this myself, but
  12.         I've got this report from other users. DO NOT resize your bootable
  13.         FAT partition (drive C:) if you have OS/2 installed in a FAT partition
  14.         of your system and you don't completely understand this situation, or
  15.     don't know how to correct this afterwards.
  16. Multitasking Environments:
  17.         It's *really* dangerous to run Partition Resizer from any operating 
  18.         system other than DOS. This means you should never run Partition 
  19.         Resizer under Windows, Windows NT, OS/2, Linux (or Linux's DosEmu).
  20. Secure File System (v.1.0):
  21.         This program behaves strangely after a resizing. Either don't resize
  22.         your partitions or remove it. 
  23. Windows NT partitions:
  24.         If moved, Windows NT partitions will not boot. I don't know if 
  25.         anything worse can happen to your data, so don't move them...
  26. Windows 3.1x Swapfile:
  27.         If a partition containing a Windows 3.xx swapfile is moved or resized,
  28.         the swapfile will corrupt. Remove swapfile before (to make more space 
  29.         available, therefore make resizing faster) and make a new one after 
  30.         resizing the partition.
  31. Programs using BIOS alarm:
  32.         Disable ANY program using BIOS alarm (could be any scheduling or alarm
  33.         resident program or driver) before running Partition Resizer, 
  34.         otherwise reset protection mechanism will not work.
  35.  
  36. As you understand, it's impossible to test Partition Resizer with every 
  37. existing program or device driver, therefore you should be carefull not to
  38. use Partition Resizer while running device drivers or programs that are not
  39. absolutely required for your system to work. If you find any software problem
  40. or conflict that is caused by Partition Resizer, please inform me ASAP (you
  41. will find my address at the end of PRESIZER.DOC file).

  43. Known and tested compatibility of Partition Resizer with other software
  44. =======================================================================
  45.  
  46. Compression Drivers (Stacker, DoubleSpace, DriveSpace):
  47.     The above listed drivers are compatible with Partition Resizer, since
  48.     Partition Resizer ignores compressed drives.
  49. OnTrack Disk Manager:
  50.     Partition Resizer is fully compatible with OnTrack Disk Manager, but 
  51.     the driver must be loaded, otherwise Partition Resizer will report
  52.     an error (the best thing you can do though, is to get rid of this 
  53.     driver ASAP; buy a new BIOS for god's shake!).
  54. Windows 95, 95 OSR2, 98:
  55.     Partition Resizer is fully compatible with Windows 95 (this doesn't
  56.     mean you can run Partition Resizer UNDER Windows 95; you must exit
  57.     to DOS or Windows 95 real mode first).
  58. Windows NT Boot Manager, LILO:
  59.     You will not face any problems with these boot managers, but you
  60.     have to reinstall them after you run Partition Resizer, in order
  61.     to import the changes.
  62. OS/2 Boot Manager:
  63.     You will have to reinstall the boot manager (using the setup disks
  64.     and OS/2's FDISK program) right after running Partition Resizer.
